THD Vintage (Women's Masters O'35) 3-1 win Vs Epsom O'35
Sunday 26th February 2023
THD women’s vets (and their 4 legs supporters) travelled to Epsom on Sunday for a London WO35 league match. We were sitting pretty at the top of the table due to Captain Reed’s balls of steel, (basically we never concede, and often the opposition do!) We’d lost heavily to this Epsom team before and they are National Cup Champs at this age group, oh, and we didn’t have any subs, and we are all very old.
We met in the shipping container that serves as a changing room at Epsom and hatched our usual plan of enjoying each others’ company and not worrying too much about the result. It worked a treat! With some excellent passing hockey, we were the team on top and ended the first quarter with a PC goal from Byrne. 1-0!
We continued to be delighted by playing together and Owen made it 2-0 before half time.
GK Reed yet to touch the ball….
The second half started less well, Epsom fired a ball into the D and their post player looked very surprised to see it fly off her stick into the goal. Reedy still hadn’t had a touch.
Then MOTM, “Rocket-legs” Slatford surged up the pitch and slipped the ball to Partridge who delivered a very composed reverse stick goal to make it 3-1.
We are 3 points clear at the top with 2 games to go.
DOTD was Heggs for listening to The Archers on her watch during the match.
