☀️🏑 SUMMER LEAGUE 🏑☀️
Another great season of hockey is sadly almost over now (best of luck to those still fighting for cup glory), but we are pleased to say the fun doesn't stop. Summer League is back once more, and we are looking forward to another 10 weeks of hockey and pub, with perhaps some summer weather to go with it. It is always a very enjoyable time of the year where you get to play hockey with people across multiple teams and enjoy socialising afterwards with people across the club.
As with previous seasons, we are running a 10-week summer league programme on Tuesday nights (lower club) and Wednesday nights (upper club).
Matches will use half a pitch and be 7-aside (you'll be allocated into squads once we have a full list of those who have signed up).
Upper club teams will be mixed as usual.
The lower competition is suitable for players from London Division 3 and below (Men's/ Women's 3,4,5,6,7,8). The upper competition is suitable for players from Division 3 and above (Men's/ Women's 1,2,3)

*Captains Needed*
We need a number of captains to lead the teams. You'll need to organise your team (make sure they are there at the right time, etc.), submit results, pick up the occasional bar tab, submit expenses to the treasurer (to be reimbursed) and organise umpires for the match before/after you. Please declare on the form if you are willing to be a summer league captain. You do not need to be a regular captain to be a summer league captain, and it's a great opportunity to lead if you plan to take up captaincy at some point in the future.
*Umpires Needed*
Summer League and THD in general would not run without umpires volunteering to help out. Summer League is a great opportunity to give umpiring a go for the first time or practice to improve your skills. Please get in touch with your captain if you are interested in picking up more umpiring. Similarly, if you are an umpire and want to get involved, please let us know, and we can ensure you get as many games as you want.
Any questions, please let us know. We look forward to seeing lots of you on the pitch and at the pub this summer.

FAQs
Who is this suited towards?
The lower competition is suitable for players from London Division 3 and below (Men's/ Women's 3,4,5,6,7,8). The upper competition is suitable for players from Division 3 and above (Men's/ Women's 1,2,3)
What's included in the cost?
10x weeks of matches (roughly 8 matches per team, depending on numbers) with umpires.
1 free drink per player and nachos for the team after each match in the Alleyns Head Pub (5 min walk from DC).
Is there a pay-per-play option?
Sadly, not, this was previously causing a lot of issues for the club being able to track who's played/paid. The cost of £55 per player covers the entire 10-week period and, when combined with the free drink, is great value for summer hockey.
How do I pay?
