Match Report

With a good number of the 2022/23 squad returning for the new season, some new players and juniors completing the team the M6's were looking forward to what promised to be a tight game. The great THD goal keeper crisis was resolved with none other than Phil Kelly donning the kit. The scene was set.

THD started brightly with some good controlled possession. Midfield pressed high and didn't let the opposition get into their stride and it wasn't long, after several shots on goal, before that advantage was rewarded with our first goal. Further good link up play by Bruno, Matt, Dom, led to further goals. Numerous short corners opportunities were created through great runs on the wing by Jack, Jake and Ben and through the middle. Only a strong performance from the Wapping keeper kept the score down to just 4-0 at halftime.

Defence remained solid and composed throughout with great performances from Toby, Ollie and Ben L crafting some excellent transfers around the back to open up decisive attacks. On the few occasions that the opposition penetrated the final third the solid defending meant there remained little for Phil to do.

With two goals for Dom Grace, and a goal a piece for Matt Robertson, Ben Irving, Jake Hardesty and Jack Henderson the final score was 6-0 though perhaps it could have been more. A fantastic start to the season achieved through a real team effort with everyone playing their part.
