We are pleased to announce an extension to the partnership with HMCK charity, who are providing vital financial support for the player pathway partnership initiative established by Dulwich College with several local state schools. HMCK Charity has provided financial support since THD Phoenix was founded, and their latest contribution will be used to pay for coaching staff and equipment for the next cohort of children.
Sarah Sawyer, Educationalists Panel Member HMCK Charity said:
“We are delighted to continue our support for this cross-sector partnership which provides fun and enjoyable access to hockey, promotes physical activity and mental health and clearly benefits everyone involved in making it happen. It is absolutely in keeping with our belief that everyone, regardless of background and circumstances, should have the chance to fulfill their potential.”
Jenny Stanley, Assistant Head Dulwich College said:
“We are so grateful for the continued support of HMCK Charity. The charity has enabled us to create a thriving cross-sector partnership; a collection of coaches, parents, teachers, and students from the state and independent sector working together to inspire children to play sports throughout childhood and into later life. The funding we receive from the charity helps to cover our costs for coaching and equipment for our free Phoenix hockey sessions”.
So far, the program has been introducing field hockey to over 55 primary-aged children from seven local state schools in a fun, safe and welcoming environment with dedicated sessions and competing in local tournaments. Earlier this year, the first cohort graduated from THD Phoenix, the hockey club will be supporting them as they transition into the junior section for the upcoming season.
The THD Phoenix coaching team are currently busy preparing to welcome the next set of children. Over the past two years, seven local schools have been involved and the team are currently outreaching to more schools in South London to invite them to take part in the trial days on 23rd and 30th June.
