Today started with our usual warm up ritual whilst manifesting chants of ‘early goals, create chances and at some point the goals will come’ and the goals did come… EXCEPT for the absolute sitter Erica ‘should have gone to Specsavers’ missed.

Our approach to the game started a little on the slow side until Millie scored our opening goal. Our bellies were filled with fire but as we’re not being used to actually being ahead in many games we panicked a bit and gave away a goal.

We had to dig deep after that but our continued fight was rewarded with our second goal courtesy of Rox, thereby restoring our lead.

Things were looking good, that was until Ellie decided hockey rules don’t apply to her when she smashed the ball over the back line and conceded a short. No surprise that a few ‘dick of the day’ votes made it her way.

At half time whilst we recollected ourselves in the heat the oppo seemed to be losing their heads and Elly took complete advantage of that by smashing in another 2 goals, just missing a hat trick!
