Dear all,
We thought (some of) you might like information on opportunities for you to go back to hockey or pick up a stick for the first time - given that your sons and daughters are showing an active interest!
Over the last year or so, we’ve had conversations with many of you on the side of the pitch, during Sundays juniors' training sessions about opportunities to get (back) into adult hockey and we understand many of you are not aware of what our Senior Club can offer (https://thehockeyclub.co.uk/ ).
We would like to provide those of you interested with key information about the adult section and to, hopefully, entice some of you into picking a stick up and coming to join us on the pitch!
We are always looking for new members. We recruit both for the highest teams in our Club, but also for new joiners for the more relaxed/social hockey lower teams. The lower teams provide a friendly balance between competitive lower League matches and the social aspect of hockey. They are a mix of people with different ages (some 15y juniors up to those whose ages we’ve been asked not to disclose!), skills and backgrounds. Several have come back to play hockey after a few or many years and some are new to holding a hockey stick at all.
Our club has a long and friendly history and we love it. Our facilities are really good, with 3 quality pitches used for training and matches (Dulwich College Sport Club, Alleyn's and JAGS), all close to our Clubhouse and an additional pitch at Crystal Palace used only for training.
We pride ourselves on being South London's friendliest club! We have a real community club feel on a Saturday in the Club House with lots of teams playing at home and supporting each other, plus free teas! We have 7 men’s and 7 women’s teams playing on Saturdays, plus Vets teams over 35 and over 45 and a Mixed Team playing on Sundays. Both Vets Teams and Mixed Teams are made by players generally belonging to the main women's and men's club teams, who enjoy having a second match during the week.
Our wide range of Teams and related Leagues allow us to offer a wide range of development and performance hockey, spanning from complete beginners to the top divisions of the London Hockey League. Our Men 1st XI and Women 1st XI play in the London Premier Divisions!
The first few sessions are always free and you are welcome to come and try out our training at either Crystal Palace or Dulwich College and see how it feels.
If you decide to join the Club, The first year subscription fee is reduced, as set-out in our website https://www.thehockeyclub.co.uk/membership.
