THD M2 5 : 3 Wimbledon M3
After returning from the Christmas break, the Men’s 2s looked to continue their strong run of form against a Wimbledon side that were no strangers to a good battle under the floodlights at Alleyn’s School. Making his home debut for the 2s was Adam Mitchell, a strong upcoming junior at the club who has continued to impress this season…and it didn’t take long for him to make his mark on the game.
After a hectic first few minutes, THD found themselves 1-0 down with Wimbledon coming out of the gates hot. Up steps Adam, and dispatched a lovely rebound finish into the bottom corner. Soon after, the 2s found a foothold in the game, riding a wave of intense counter-attacking pressure and ultimately sneaking into the lead through Ruairí Gillespie before half-time. 2-1 HT
As with previous fixtures against Wimbledon, there is never a shortage of goals, with the opposition showing their strength immediately drawing level early on in the 2nd half. Despite being pegged back, the 2s showed some serious flair, though some scintillating build-up play stretching into a quick 2-goal lead, both courtesy of Ruairí Gillespie, leaving him with a hat-trick on the day. Some dodgy finishing, but goals are goals at the end of the day.
As the sun began to set over Alleyn’s, the team held a firm grip on the match with both teams netting once more to finish off the match at 5-3 to Tulse Hill.
Another 3 points, up the 2s, bosh.
