Tulse Hill & Dulwich (THD) Hockey Club are looking to recruit enthusiastic, inspiring and skilled coaches across the whole club.
We are looking for coaching in the following key areas:
Performance Squad Coach (W2S)
- Game day attendance (home games required)
- London Div 2 League
- EH Level 2 Coaching
Lower Club Coaches
- Lower Men's Coaching Lead
- Seeking coaches for both the men's and women's side of the club
- Will have support of assistant coaches currently in situ.

THD is a large club based in South East London with over 850 active members. We have a thriving junior section which ranges from ages 6 to 18, THD Phoenix Player Pathway, along with 16 adult teams and 4 Masters teams. We are based in Dulwich and play our hockey at Dulwich College, James Allen's Girls School and Alleyn's School. In addition to outdoor hockey, we also provide opportunities to play indoor hockey and regularly compete at the annual London tournament.
The club is currently working towards the nationally-recognised, cross-sport accreditation Club Mark in collaboration with England Hockey.
Outlined below in this job description are the desired credentials of the ‘ideal’ candidates. It is worth highlighting that the club offers funding for coaching qualifications and relevant training.
These positions could be combined with other coaching roles within the club (junior/senior). Further opportunities can be discussed during the application process.
Hours:
Minimum 2 hours coaching per team evening throughout the season, plus some off-pitch management time to plan and coordinate training sessions.
Locations: Dulwich College for the lower club, Wednesday for W's performance teams (W2) and on Sunday for the Junior section at JAGS/ Alleyn's and Dulwich College.
Coaching Rate:
To be negotiated with the club, dependent on knowledge, experience and linked to coaching qualifications.
Responsibilities:
To oversee the coaching programme and manage the supporting coaches /volunteers for the lower men's section.
Culture and environment:
To enhance consistency and raise standards. Responsible for ensuring that all sessions are run safely and reporting incidents, injuries and/or welfare concerns.
Planning and delivery:
To plan and deliver high-quality sessions throughout the season, which demonstrate a golden thread of player and team development,
Fixtures:
Pitch-side coaching is not essential for lower club teams; however, preferred for performance teams
Selection:
To provide support to captains where needed.
Qualifications:
- EH Coach Award / Level 2 qualified (or equivalent)
- Valid First Aid qualification.
- Valid Safeguarding & Protecting Children certificate (UK Coaching).
- DBS enhanced check (must be completed before the appointment can be confirmed).
- Right to live and work in the UK.
Knowledge & Experience:
Experience of coaching players, planning and leading sessions with a mix of ages and abilities (junior, adults and vets) across the men’s section.
Familiar with England Hockey’s Future Talent Strategy and Talent Development Framework (strong understanding desirable).
