THD W4 vs HAC Sabres

 

26th September 2026. 

Off the back of a very successful season (ahem, THD’s Team of the Year, EH Salver Winners and the best league finish in a long time), the 4s are back and ready to kick this season out of the park. 

Week 2… one draw under the belt after tough conditions (lacking players) the week before, the 4s were keen to get back to winning ways. 

Fun fact: the 4s have not lost a game since 21st January. Fingers crossed this continues. 

The sun was shining, and the team all turned up on time (this was a shock to the overly caffeinated captain). Unfortunately, our goalie was far too sick to play…so we grabbed her kit and traded a player with the 5s to venture into goal for the first time (pints were used as currency). Big thanks to Gabby for stepping in. 

Our opponent, HAC - local rivals. Always come out fighting; it's always a touch game. Last season was the first time we had taken the full three points from them, with only 1 win from our last 6 meetings. 

 

A tough game lay ahead. 

 

The first half was tough. We knew their forwards would come hunting, and shots came flying in towards the top corner, with one finally flying past the defence. The next was a perfectly executed short corner just before half-time. 

Chief vibe-bringer Clare was on hand to rally the team and get them into the goal while we figured out our comeback. 

The comeback was on…all we had to do was remember our tactics from our coaches and, of course, turn it up a notch. 

We cranked it up, played some beautiful hockey and gave Gabby a break from balls flying at her head. 

Izzy Johnny kicked off the breakthrough, which was followed by two goals from PC’s from Martha and Lucy. 

 

Final score: THD 3 - 2 HAC
