We are pleased to announce that London Hockey's Futures fund will continue supporting our THD Phoenix player pathway.
Hockey Futures partners with hockey clubs to create outreach programmes to connect with young people through schools and community organisations. The aim is to encourage hockey for all. This helps young people improve their life skills, allowing them to develop positively.
The funding and support provided are vitally important to enable THD Phoenix to provide access to hockey for Y5/6 state school children in SE London, who have not had the opportunity to play regular sport. Their latest contribution will be used to pay for coaching staff and equipment for the next cohort of children.
So far, the program has been introducing field hockey to primary-aged children from seven local state schools in a fun, safe and welcoming environment with dedicated sessions and competing in local tournaments. Earlier this year, the first cohort graduated from THD Phoenix, the hockey club is supporting them as they transition into the junior section this season.
The THD Phoenix coaching team has just welcomed the next set of children who are enjoying weekly hockey sessions at Dulwich College.
