It is with great sadness that we have been notified of the death of John Vince.

John was 91 and died peacefully in Cambridge on 30th November 2025. John was a distinguished member, both as a player and club official, of Tulse Hill Hockey Club (‘TH’).

He joined TH in the late 1950s and was vice-captain of the 1st XI for the club’s Diamond Jubilee season (1957-58). He was the 1st XI captain from 1961 to 1963, and club captain from 1970 to 1974. During his time as club captain, John played a crucial role in the negotiations that resulted in TH moving to play at the Honor Oak cricket ground, as part of the then newly formed
Tulse Hill & Honor Oak Club, from September 1973.

John was TH President from 1981 to 1987 and continued to have close ties both with TH and Tulse Hill & Dulwich HC, as TH became in 2002.

We remember John with considerable affection and gratitude, and send our condolences to his family.
