We host our End-of-Season Awards after every season, and this year, Cecily White was named Women’s Player of the Year. This is an award which is voted for by our members. Cecily is a senior player who has come through our junior player pathway. She’s currently 17 but has been playing with our senior teams for the past four years.
Congratulations Cecily, this award was truly deserved. We are excited to see your hockey journey continue with us and on to University!
“In 2023/24, Cecily consistently received player of the match, with her confidence growing in playing adult hockey. She has scored some fantastic goals and leads our forward line with the confidence of someone who has been playing hockey for a long time. Her pace, skills and ability to read the game mean she is an asset to the team.”
Congratulations on winning this award - how did you feel when the award was given to you?
Very confused! I wasn't expecting it at all but it was so lovely to feel all my efforts had been recognised and I felt very appreciative of the ladies I had played with that season.
Tell us about your Hockey background, how long have you been at the club for?
I have been at the club since I was 11 and started playing senior hockey around 13 so I have played for the 7’s, 6’s, and 5’s now and spent two seasons playing with the London Juniors.
“Cecily is a consistent communicator on the pitch and her she has shone on the pitch. Her skills on the pitch are exceptional.”
What is it about hockey that you like? Why do you play?
My favorite thing about hockey has to be the people, I have met some of my best friends at THD, and getting to train with all of them is one of my biggest motivators :)
Do you have any goals for the rest of this season?
To try and make the most of all the social and training opportunities before I head off to uni
Do you have any highlights / stand-out moments from your time at the Club? Best goal you’ve scored?
My highlights from my time at THD have to be the friends I've met from playing here, with winning this award in a close second
“Just an all-round fantastic hockey player. happy to go to whatever position she is needed in and smashes it!”
